Director of Bands

Daniel Greenwood

Mr. Greenwood is currently in his third year as the Director of Bands at Gifford Middle School. He is a 2012 graduate of VBHS and was highly active as a member of the Fighting Indians Band. He attended the University of South Florida where he studied conducting and secondary music methods with Matthew McCutchen and John Carmichael. At USF, he performed with the Herd of Thunder Marching Band, the Symphonic Band, the USF Wind Ensemble (including a performance at Carnegie Hall), and was an undergraduate conductor for the Concert Band. He served on staff for various USF band festivals where he band-managed at the Festival of Winds, coordinated logistics for the Symphonic Celebration, and served as a dorm counselor and conducting elective assistant for the summer music camps. Mr. Greenwood graduated Cum Laude in 2015 with his Bachelor of Science in Music Education. In addition to his duties at Gifford Middle School, he serves as the Percussion Director for Vero Beach High School with most his students becoming members of the Fighting Indians Band. He has previously worked as a percussion instructor for multiple middle schools in Indian River County. He is a member of NAfME, FMEA, FBA, and the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) and enjoys being back in his hometown teaching students of all ages and abilities.
